Here is a sample of some of our students work in their English classes.
The 7th graders introduced various aspects of Japanese Culture, the 8th graders re-wrote some lyrics of a pop song, and the 9th graders wrote their own original Haiku poems in English.
@Our original Haiku poems in English!
The third-year (9th grade) students in our school wrote their own original Haiku poems in English.
Haiku are Japanese poems. The verses don't have to rhyme. But Japanese haiku usually give hints arbout a particular season, and they consist of three lines: the first has 5 syllables, the second has 7, and the third has 5.
Haiku in English, though, don't have to relate to a season. They can be about any topic.
But they usually follow the 5-7-5 syllable rule.
Here is a small sample of our students' work:
1) "My Mother" by R.M. (class 3-1)

@Our students' Song Lyrics!
The second-year (8th grade) students in our school listened to the song "Count On Me" by Bruno Mars and re-wrote some of the lyrics with their own ideas.
In the song, the lyrics we worked with are:
If you toss and turn and you just can't fall asleep
I'll sing a sing beside you
Find out what we're made of when we are called to help our friends in need
You can count on me like one, two, three
I'll be there
And I know when I need it, I can count on you like 4, 3, 2
