School Events


Our school not only has many interesting classes and subjects that students learn, but there are also many wonderful events throughout the year.

For example:
  • April

    Opening Ceremony - The Japanese school year begins in April. And this is the ceremony for the first day for the new 7th graders.

  • May

    City-wide Grand Matches - A two-day championship event for all of the junior high sports teams in Nagareyama.
    3rd Year (9th graders) Field Trip - The 9th graders take a three-day field trip to Kyoto / Nara, Japan.
    1st Year (7th graders) Field Trip - The 7th graders first field trip in junior high is a one-day trip to a nearby zoo, aquarium, or such.

  • June

    2nd Year (8th graders) Field Trip - The 8th graders field trip to Nagano, Japan.

  • September

    English Speech Contest - The biggest of the English speech contests for junior high school students in Japan.
    Sports Day - This is a fun and exciting event with many activities. It's very fun for the students and also for their friends and family who come to watch.

  • October

    Culture Festival - Students in Japan get a chance to experience and appreciate music and art.
    Chorus Contest - Each class practices singing a song acapella together to prepare for this day when they will perform it on stage for their parents and also a judge who will choose this year's champion class.
    Ekiden - The city-wide junior high school "Ekiden" relay marathon race.

  • December

    2nd Year (8th graders) Work Experience - In Japan, 8th graders get to experience what it's like to work at a nearby store, restaurant, office, etc for three days.

  • March

    Graduation Ceremony - The Japanese school year ends in March. And this is the ceremony for the last day of junior high school for the 9th graders.
